Budget track Car Challenge race day summary.

The third annual 8 Hours of Passion event was held this past Sunday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and was a huge success. The beginning of the day threatened rain, however by mid-morning the sky had started to clear, and the rest of the day was sunny and warm.

The H.J. Pfaff Audi team had a great showing and put a huge effort into making the day enjoyable.  Our pit area set up was a step up from last year, offering home made burgers and kebabs to our team and colleagues which was a big hit, not to mention the rest of the food provided by generous employees paid for out of their own pocket.

On track, we were quite quick and looking to post a very good lap time in the time attack event.  However, in search of the fast lap we managed to find the limit of adhesion.  A spectacular 540 degree spin on the second of our three hot laps unfortunately put us out of the running in that event. Despite the spin, our car emerged unscathed and was able to compete for the remainder of the day.

The timed drag race event also proved to be challenging for us as again we found the limit of our tires. Fighting for grip on our launch, we were unable to post a time fast enough to move past round 1.

The light at the end of the tunnel…autocross!  This event gave us a opportunity to redeem ourselves and we came away with the win in that event, posting a time of 32 seconds flat, besting the other teams by over a second!

A massive thank you to everyone that helped with the 8 Hours of Passion event, the H.J. Pfaff Audi team and to everyone that came out to the event to cheer us on. The event was a huge success, and congratulations to all of the teams for bringing your best on this day.  It is an awesome site to see when all of the rooftops come together like this!

Although we did not achieve a podium finish this year, we are very confident that next year we will be bringing home the hardware!
