Weekend 1 Qualifying Update.

Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend | Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

In what must be one of the shortest qualifying sessions in the history of the Canadian GT3 series, Chris Green, driving the #9 Castrol-Pfaff Motorsports GT3 Cup in the Platinum class, is on pole for tomorrow’s race.

The skies through the day had been threatening rain, and it started almost immediately after the qualifying session started. Another competitor spun his car in turn 8, hitting the wall and causing the session to be halted. While the competitors were in the pits waiting for the track to be cleared, the skies opened up, with heavy rain soaking the racetrack.

With a thoroughly wet surface, none of the race cars, even if they were to switch to rain tires, would be able to set a faster lap than the handful they had already completed. Fortunately for Chris, this resulted with him being on pole position for tomorrow’s race.

Orey Fidani, driving the #13 Pfaff-Orlando Motorsports GT3 Cup in the gold class, wasn’t able to complete a flying lap before the session was halted, and will start fourth in class.

Tomorrow’s race starts at 2:45 p.m. eastern time. Live timing is available by Clicking Here.
