Pfaff Motorsports has entered into the second half of the season last week at the Grand Prix of Mosport.
After having a bittersweet first half of the year, we can look back at the positive results and gains we have made. PJ Groenke scored back to back wins at the Vortex Brakes 200 weekend. It was a dominating performance in both races, PJ came from 10th to 1st in no time at all, then cruised to victory with a 5 second margin. Race 2 saw PJ start from 1st and he never looked back.
Jeff Pabst in the A5 finally got a chance to race the Audi at the Honda Indy Toronto. Here we saw Jeff overcome a minor electrical fire in the engine bay during qualifying that put him to the back of the grid. Once the green flag fell, Jeff quickly started to charge up the field, and after the 30 minute race came to an end, he had battled to 16th overall and 11th in class. This was the drive of the day!
Moving into the Grand Prix of Mosport, the team had its fair share of challenges and bad luck! The A5 started both races but did not finish them due to more electrical gremlins. On a positive note, Jeff and the A5 turned their fastest laps yet at Mosport, giving the team a little boost! PJ had victory taken away from him when the rear bumper was knocked loose after being hit by another car. With the bumper dragging on the ground PJ still managed to keep himself in the lead and was pulling away, but after pleading with the officials that the bumper would stay attached to the car, they black flagged us and PJ had to come in to have the offending body piece removed. The GTI finished 5th. Race 2 was not a good race for the Pfaff Motorsports team with DNF's and a lot of damage to the GTI.
The team made an astonishing repair to the GTI over the past 2 weeks, returning it to a competitive performance level. PJ currently sits 5th in the Championship and is hopeful that he can continue to move up in the standings this weekend at Trois Rivieres.
The A5 development continues as we work towards running at the front of the pack in Super Touring.
