Driving the McLaren 570S in Florida on road and track

It’s the moment that all of us – the team at McLaren Toronto and Vancouver, and especially our 570S customers, depositors, and prospects – have been waiting for. The chance to drive the new McLaren Sports Series on sun-kissed, dry roads, and the racetrack.

With the assistance of the amazing team at McLaren North America, team Pfaff gathered together six brand-new 570S coupes in Palm Beach, Florida, for an unforgettable driving experience delivered to a select group of individuals.

The experience began the evening of March 1, where the group gathered at the spectacular EAU Palm Beach resort for a cocktail reception and intimate dinner hosted by McLaren North America’s Vice President of Marketing, Andy Thomas, and Chris Pfaff. It was an amazing setup for the next day’s experience.

After a beautiful breakfast spread, the next morning started early with a presentation on the new Sports Series, which like all McLaren sports cars, features a carbon-fibre core structure and Formula One-derived technology. All 12 guests took their seats in one of the six test cars for a picturesque road drive to Palm Beach International Raceway, experiencing the 570S’ excellent road manners and impressive refinement.

At the track, the drivers were split into four groups, which participated in three separate exercises on a slalom course, drag strip (testing the transmission’s launch function and carbon-ceramic brakes) as well as a lapping session on the racetrack. A quick debrief at the track was followed by a shuttle back to the resort for a late beachside lunch.

It was a memorable experience for all of the participants as well as the McLaren Toronto and McLaren Vancouver teams in attendance. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with the cars – but also the incredible hospitality from McLaren North America and the Pfaff team.
